Industrial Solar GmbH (ISG, Freiburg, Germany) installed a fresnel collector system for direct steam generation at RAM Pharma (RAM) in Sahab, Jordan. The system provides steam for the pharmaceutical production processes and thereby cuts energy costs and CO2 emissions of RAM.
The concentrating solar power (CSP) system on the factory roof of RAM is comprised of 18 Industrial Solar LF-11 fresnel collectors with a total aperture area of 396 m² and a peak capacity of 223 kWh.
The system was commissioned in March 2015 and was officially inaugurated by His Excellency the Jordan Minister of Environment Dr. Taher Shakhshir on May 7th, 2015.
It was realized within a project between Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and ISG to support the market development for solar process heat in Jordan.
The development partnership with the Industrial Solar GmbH is part of the develoPPP.de programme that Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implements on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Through the develoPPP.de programme, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) provides companies investing in developing and emerging countries with financial and, if required, also professional support. The company is responsible for covering at least half of the overall costs.
