The SETI Alliance on May 12th, 2015, announced that European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) has become its latest member. EPIA represents the European solar photovoltaic (PV) sector, covering the whole value chain, from fabs and equipment to solar power sales.
In joining the SETI Alliance, EPIA is demonstrating its support for a level playing field for trade in environmental goods. This announcement comes shortly after EPIA also called for normalization of trade relations with China on PV modules and solar cells.
“We warmly welcome EPIA, who bring their 30 years of excellence and leadership in solar power to the SETI Alliance,” said Peter C. Brun, Managing Director of the SETI Alliance.
Additional support for an international environmental trade agreement securing global free green trade
“With over 100 members and an active presence in the European solar PV market, EPIA will bring valuable knowledge and experience from this important environmental sector to the Alliance. Being one of the leading solar trade associations in the world, EPIA compliments the strong support from other clean technologies to the cause of seeking an international environmental trade agreement securing free green trade worldwide”.
James Watson, CEO of EPIA added: “We are delighted to join the SETI Alliance, re-affirming our commitment to taking a much more pro-active role in the trade issues that impact our sector in Europe. We recently launched a trade taskforce for the WTO Environmental Goods Agreement and this will now work closely with the SETI Alliance.”
The Alliance’s partners include companies such as Siemens, Vestas, Suzlon, and Trina Solar, as well as organizations such as the Global Green Growth Institute, the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, the Danish Wind Association, the Global Green Growth Forum, and the European Wind Energy Association.
